“Solarize Santa Barbara” Making Solar Simple and More Affordable

Santa Barbara community and government leaders gathered Tuesday May 24th to celebrate the launch of Solarize Santa Barbara— a community-led, group-purchasing program for residential solar electric systems.

Offered by the Community Environmental Council (CEC), Solarize Santa Barbara provides local homeowners the opportunity to go solar at a discounted, group-purchaseAndrew-Hill-05-24-16-AH-24-05-16-IMG_8041 price from two local solar installers. California Solar Electric is proud to be one of the two installers vetted and chosen by a committee of local experts to provide the service to Santa Barbara residents in Southern Santa Barbara County from Gaviota to Carpinteria over the next three months.

Solarize Santa Barbara’s previous programs ran in 2011-2104 “We designed the Solarize program to make going solar simple and more affordable for homeowners,”noted CEC’s Energy Program Director, Jefferson Litten.

Andrew-Hill-05-24-16-AH-24-05-16-IMG_8050Event hosts and 2011 Solarize Santa Barbara participants, Bill Burke and Nancy Bell Coe said, “Five years ago, when we considered solar, we thought it was a no brainer but there were so many companies out there we didn’t know who to talk to. We gained a lot of confidence by working through the Solarize program and being able to work with their installers who were delightful.”

During the Solarize program duration, CEC will host free educational workshops covering solar technologies, energy efficiency, and financing options. “The workshops are a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of going solar – from technical aspects to the effects on home values, to how your electric bills will shrink,” said Litten.
